What it shows

Short-term holder supply, or STH supply, is the total BTC in coins that moved on-chain within the last 155 days. These coins belong to recent buyers or to active traders. The chart plots the amount in BTC over time, with the BTC price on the same view. The page also gives the percent change over the last seven days. When a coin has not moved for 155 days, it leaves this group. When a coin moves, it can enter this group again. The line therefore changes with both trading activity and coin age.

How to read it

Start with the latest STH supply and its 7-day change. A rising line means more coins have moved recently. This can come from new demand or from active trading. A falling line means fewer coins moved, or more coins aged past 155 days. The app notes that a fall in STH supply with a rise in LTH supply can mean coins crossed the 155-day line. Compare the line with the BTC price and with the LTH supply page.

  1. Read the latest supply in BTC and the 7-day change.
  2. Check if falls in STH supply match rises in LTH supply.
  3. Compare turns in the line with the BTC price.

What to keep in mind

The line mixes two causes: coins that move and coins that age out. It cannot separate new buyers from old holders who moved coins between wallets. A transfer of one owner can raise the count. The split of the groups at 155 days is a convention. The metric shows a total in BTC, not a number of people. Read it together with price and with the LTH supply.

A missing value is not zero. Check the source and time under each data block before you compare numbers.

Questions

What is short-term holder supply?

It is the total BTC in coins that moved on-chain within the last 155 days. These coins are held by recent buyers or active traders. The metric shows how much of the supply is young. It is a total in BTC.

Why does STH supply fall when LTH supply rises?

Coins change group by age. When a coin passes 155 days without moving, it leaves the short-term group and joins the long-term group. The two totals can then move in opposite directions without any trade. The app describes this effect on the page.

Does rising STH supply mean new buyers?

Not always. A rise means more coins moved within the last 155 days. New buyers can cause this. Old holders who move their coins can cause it too. The metric alone cannot show which cause applies.
