Pi Cycle Top
The Pi Cycle Top indicator compares the 111-day moving average of Bitcoin with twice its 350-day moving average.
The Pi Cycle Top indicator uses two moving averages of the Bitcoin price. One is the 111-day average. The other is the 350-day average multiplied by two. The indicator marks the day when the 111-day line reaches or crosses above the doubled 350-day line.
The name comes from the ratio of the two windows, which is close to the number pi. The 111-day average reacts faster, so it can catch up with the slower line only after a long and steep rise in price. Until then, the two lines stay apart.
The indicator has few past observations. A small sample cannot support strong claims. Past matches with market peaks are descriptive. They do not show that a crossover will mark the next peak, and a crossover may also occur at another time.
Example
The 111-day average is 80 and the doubled 350-day average is 100. The lines are apart. A crossing happens only when the first value reaches the second.
