Mayer Multiple
The Mayer Multiple is the Bitcoin price divided by its 200-day moving average.
The Mayer Multiple is the Bitcoin price divided by its 200-day simple moving average. A value of 1 means the price equals the average. A value above 1 means the price is above the average. A value below 1 means it is below. The measure is named after Trace Mayer.
The multiple has no unit. It describes how stretched the price is from its long-term trend. Analysts compare the current reading with past readings to judge whether the price is far from the trend. Past ranges are descriptive. They do not set limits for the future.
The measure depends on one fixed window, so it reacts slowly. It also changes as the history of Bitcoin grows and the size of past swings shrinks. Use it together with other valuation measures. A high or low reading is context, not an instruction to trade.
Example
The price is 90 and the 200-day average is 60. The Mayer Multiple is 1.5.
