Long-term holder (LTH)
A long-term holder (LTH) is an investor whose coins have not moved on-chain for more than 155 days, in the definition used by NinjaTools.
A long-term holder (LTH) is an investor whose coins have stayed unmoved on the blockchain for more than 155 days. NinjaTools uses this 155-day threshold for all its holder charts. Other data providers may use another threshold. Always check the threshold before you compare two sources.
The label belongs to the coin, not to a person. When a coin moves, its age resets and it leaves the long-term group. Analysts group coins by age to measure the behavior of patient holders. Common measures are LTH supply, LTH cost basis and LTH SOPR.
A rise in LTH supply means more coins have aged past the threshold. A fall means that old coins have moved. Moving a coin does not always mean selling. An owner can move coins between own wallets. Treat the data as an approximation of holder behavior.
Example
A coin that last moved 200 days ago counts as long-term. If the owner moves it today, it counts as short-term again.
